Early pregnancy can come with a range of challenges, including nausea, vomiting, or more severe symptoms such as hyperemesis gravidarum.
Unfortunately, early pregnancy loss, whether threatened or confirmed miscarriage, is also a reality for some. Sensitive, timely care and support are essential during this time, and management is tailored to each individual's needs and circumstances.
-
The majority of pregnancies progress smoothly without complications. As an Obstetrician, my role is to support and guide you throughout your pregnancy journey, ensuring your health and wellbeing and the safe delivery of your baby.
-
Some individuals enter pregnancy with pre-existing medical conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, asthma, or other chronic health issues.
These conditions can sometimes influence the course of pregnancy, and in turn, pregnancy can impact the stability or management of these conditions.
A multidisciplinary approach, working closely with your regular specialists, midwife, and Obstetrician, is essential to support your health and ensure a safe and well-managed pregnancy.

Approximately 1 in 12 babies are born prematurely, defined as birth occurring between 20 and 37 weeks of pregnancy.
If you have previously experienced a preterm birth, tailored surveillance and management strategies can be put in place during subsequent pregnancies to help reduce the risk of recurrence.
In specific cases, cervical cerclage (stitch) - a procedure performed in the operating theatre - may be recommended as part of a broader approach to preterm birth prevention.
-
In some cases, babies may not grow to their full potential during pregnancy.
Close monitoring of fetal growth through ultrasound assessments and regular antenatal visits is essential. This careful surveillance helps guide decisions around the safest and most appropriate timing for your baby’s delivery.

Birth trauma is a deeply personal experience that can affect individuals physically, emotionally, or more commonly, a combination of both. For many, the thought of a future birth after a traumatic experience can feel overwhelming and requires a thoughtful, compassionate approach.
I have a strong interest in supporting individuals through this journey, aiming to make any subsequent birth experience as healing and positive as possible. This is achieved through a safe, calm, and collaborative approach involving a multidisciplinary team.
